Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. “He was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. “Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in,” they wrote. In their new statement, Bergling’s family noted his ambivalence toward his profession. “It really helped me realize that I needed to make the change that I’d been struggling with for a while,” he wrote. He’d long been wrestling with the decision to stop touring and wrote that he was able to gain a new perspective during a cross-country U.S. “I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist,” Bergling wrote at the time. He stopped touring in 2016, at the height of his popularity, and his family said the decision was prompted by a desire “to find a balance in life, to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.”
